  • Audiometry TestingNoise Induced Hearing Loss is irreversible and incapacitating but preventable.
  • At the pre-employment stage it is critical to have a baseline audiogram before working in noisy work environments. This will screen for previous damage before commencing employment, and avoid liability for ‘inherited’ hearing damage.
  • Noise induced hearing loss is prevented by a comprehensive hearing conservation program incorporating engineering methods to reduce noise at source, workplace policies to reduce worker exposure including appropriate use of ear muffs and/or plugs and hearing surveillance. Hearing surveillance involves regular audiometric testing to monitor the workforce for signs of noise induced hearing loss and allow early medical intervention to conserve hearing.
  • Current noise legislation specifies that in cases where the daily exposure is greater than 85 DbA hearing surveillance including audiometry must be offered to employees.

Spirometry Test

Lung Testing

  • Spirometry is the Gold Standard Lung function test.
  • Spirometry is useful in the diagnosis of asthma and other respiratory diseases.
  • Spirometry is used in health surveillance programs where the worker is exposed to dusts, fumes or chemicals and at risk of work related asthma.
  • Baseline spirograph for employee at pre-employment medical.
  • Periodic spirogram testing for “at risk” workers .
  • Spirogram testing on workers complaining of chest symptoms; as an aid to clinical diagnosis.

Occupational Health Audit

Medwise will work with a new client to conduct a full review of all the site’s occupational health services in place as well as a review of current statistics concerning duration of disabilities, injury trends, etc. so that we can understand the status and effectiveness of the overall program and to suggest prioritized areas for action.

A site survey (walkabout) be conducted by Medwise and the site’s mgt team.

The purpose of such a survey is to identify health hazards. Appropriate health surveillance programs can then be defined to ensure optimal employee health.
