A vaccine is now available that will help prevent Cervical Cancer
The vaccine helps prevent the vast majority of cervical cancer.
Vaccination gives you protection against the most common cancer-causing types of HPV (Human Papillomavirus)
The vaccine is indicated for 10 to 25 year old females.
The primary vaccination series consists of 3 separate doses administered according to the following schedule: 0, 1 and 6 months
While vaccination prevents against the vast majority of cervical cancer, by protecting against the most common cancer causing types of HPV, you are still required to have a regular smear test to detect early changes that may lead to cervical cancer. All women between the ages of 25 to 60 years should have a smear test every 3-5 years.
