Basic First Aid Training
This course is designed as an introduction to the principles of first aid and emergency response care. It is intended as a basic foundation course and does not fulfil the criteria of Occupational First Aider requirements under the safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act or First Aid Regulations
This course will teach participants to assess the extent of an injury, deliver emergency first aid and how to use basic life saving skills in an emergency situation.
Course content:
Responsibilities of a First Aider, assessment and initial reaction - Diagnosis and principles of treatment
- Patient approach
- Examination of casualty
- Medical emergencies
- Electric shock and burns
- Wounds and bleeding
- Sprains, strains and dislocation
- Crush injuries
- Emergency services
